New life
I set out to walk the coast of Great Britain certain that my past was resolved.
Through two years of prioritising self-care after suffering a breakdown, I felt better than ever before. The breakup with my ex had been the catalyst for my unravelling in the past, but I had recovered from the anxiety and depression and any other feelings that it caused.
During my mental illness, I thought my dream of walking the coast of Great Britain was an attempt to escape my problems.
Only when the dream remained in my recovery did I realise that my intuition was leading me towards something better. I wanted to connect more deeply with myself, others, and the landscape. I wanted to find a sense of belonging that had eluded me all my life.
I thought this walk was a new beginning, but the past would confront me in ways I couldn’t have imagined. Encounters with people I met along the way gave me stark choices to let go of the past and embrace the new life I was searching for or be consumed by it.
