Midjourney Is My Flawed but Unstoppable Sidekick
It’s not all smooth sailing with this tool in LEGO photography, but the payoff is totally worth the bumpy ride.
Within the photography community — and perhaps this stands true for other forms of art — the use of certain digital tools can quickly become a highly contentious topic. Opinions are extremely polarized, with some people unfollowing you immediately upon seeing AI-generated content, while others use it proudly.
And, of course, there are so many people across the full spectrum of the rainbow. I’m somewhere in the middle, but since I have an incredibly accepting attitude toward others’ art, my goal isn’t to pass judgment on anyone — it’s simply to share my perspective and the ups and downs of my journey with Midjourney — pun intended — so far.
When I first got into photography back in 2016, I never imagined I would find genuine use cases for digital backgrounds. As I shifted my focus to Toy Photography a couple years later in 2022, I found myself needing to see it in a new, more practical light. I remember, though, attending several workshops where the tutor said it’s ‘not real toy photography.’ — he had a pretty negative view on using Photoshop beyond basic adjustments and was somewhat critical of digital solutions.
