I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

I really like that quote by Douglas Adams! I spent some of my English A’level classes reading his work under the desk when I should have been pondering over what Jane Austen’s Emma was up to!

Once again, some marvellous stories came in for the prompt

The first story in was from

and it was showcased at the top of the magazine for the month. It’s a strong, haunting tale of the what ifs that often keep speaking long after a conversation ends!

You Heard It Too, Right?
He used to say my name like that when he was tired. When we fought and he didn’t want to fight anymore. Like an apology folded in defeat.

Once again, a difficult choice to put just one of the other stories in the spotlight. There were three possibilities — another strong writing month! But I chose this from

. It is an intense, tightly wound story where control, memory, and the line between punishment and care all collide.

The Quiet Room

Now here’s all the other mighty microcosm SOUND prompt stories:

Bitty bits

If you missed last month’s — Smell — stories, then you can find them showcased here.

Make sure you subscribe to the newsletter as that will be the main place you will get to hear about all the news, challenges and any changes.

Find all the prompt stories — since I took over the mission — right here in a tab from the home page.

And should you so wish, you can view the ever expanding page of Microcosm Featured tales too. The magazine is heading up for 2000 followers which is great as it’s the followers who actually get to see all the featured stories in a tab especially for them. So the more, the merrier.

I will be back on the last day of the month with a new prompt for June… Until then —

THAT crazed girl improvising her music.
Her poetry, dancing upon the shore…
