Swim on your Perfume
Scent and smell ruled the Microcosm waves
“As other spirits sail on music, mine, oh my love, swim on your perfume.” — Charles Baudelaire
My goodness, this was such a rich month for writing on Microcosm. I think we published the best overall batch of prompt stories since I took over, and some excellent submissions by writers outside the prompt too.
Thank you all so much for making Microcosm a high quality flash fiction magazine.
I’ve decided simply list all the stories this month — because honestly, I just couldn’t choose only two. The submissions were exceptionally strong, and each one deserves to be seen.
RAIN — The Smell of Rain by was the first one in and so takes top spot on the magazine for the whole of April. Well done for a super, speedily written tale.
Here are all the other amazing entries —
- The Scent Is Not the Woman — On bodies, bottles, and broken chairs —
- Redolence — Some things never die — A prompt story —
- The Lovers’ Cabin — A different smell for every guest —
- This is Love, Too — Flash fiction —
- The Scent of Atlantic City — So many mouth-watering foods and so little time —
- The Smell of Perfume — A night out at the art gallery —
- River — A story —
- The Smell of Life — I live and die by it. —
This prompt certainly produced some inspiring stories!
And a late netry from
- The Smell of Excess Lingers — Making sense out of scents.
Bitty bits
If you missed last month’s — Touch — stories, then you can find them showcased here.
Make sure you subscribe to the newsletter as that will be the main place you will get to hear about all the news, challenges and any changes.
Find all the prompt stories — since I took over the mission — right here in a tab from the home page.
And should you so wish, you can view the ever expanding page of Microcosm Featured tales too.
The magazine is heading up for 2000 followers which is great as it is the followers who actually get to see all the featured stories in a tab especially for them. So the more the merrier.
I will be back on the last day of the month with a new prompt for May… Until then —
“I love to smell flowers in the dark,”
