Walking in the Rain

Is there a new way to describe
the storms of thoughts you left in my mind?
Or would I sound like anyone else?

Clouds rested above my airy thoughts
and brewed in the precipitation
built from ruminations
of the what-ifs and whys
no one will ever answer
Rain poured heavily
into my thoughts,
wind knocked against
every window of time that I could recall
you showed me your truth

Is there a new way to describe
how it feels to forgive you?
Or would I sound like anyone else?
How long did it take for you to stop thinking of me?
You probably never thought of me
Does that make me pathetic for thinking of you?

I used to think
if I saw you
I wouldn’t know what to say

Now I know
if I ever passed you
walking in the rain
arms crossed over your fancy dress
hair soaking wet, makeup drowning your cheeks
Shivering in your open-toed shoes
thunder clapping…
