The Gift and Shadow of Being Leftist vs. Rightist

Politics… talking about it in any setting has often been viewed as a ‘sensitive’ topic. Many avoid bringing it up in discussions because they are scared of offending people. But I hold the view, that the more we talk about it, the more we can appreciate our differences and detach from our egoistic views on it.
Whether you lean left, right, or somewhere in between, we all carry gifts (those beautiful strengths) and shadows (those sneaky flaws) that shape how we see the world.

Having witnessed the politics of three countries (India, the U.S., and Canada) a little more closely over the past few years, I thought, why not jot down what I’ve observed? But not from a policy lens. From the lens I naturally use: the one that’s always trying to understand the purpose to our diverse existence.

There’s something distinct about how those with mostly left-leaning views show up… and how those with mostly right-leaning views do.

So this article is a summary of my observations of those patterns. The intention of this article is not to label, not to argue, but just to understand each other a little better.

No shouting. No yelling. Just reflection.
