10 Book Writing Mistakes to Avoid
I've put together a list of the top ten mistakes to avoid when writing a book. These will be especially helpful for those with little or no experience writing a book.
1. Not knowing the reason
It doesn't matter what kind of book you're writing. Whether it's a sweeping fictional novel or a personal memoir, you need to know why you're writing it.
Diving into a book without any motivation will only lead you to another unfinished manuscript that sits in a drawer for years. A book needs a strong motivation behind it to see it reach the publishing stage.
If you look at your book and realize you don't know why you're writing it, ask yourself a few questions to get started:
1. Why is this book important to you?
2. What message are you trying to share?
3. Why does the world need your message?
4. What parts of your experiences are valuable to other people?
5. Are you an expert at something?
6. Are you trying to dominate a specific market or niche?
