A random chat took me to an unexpected place

This is in Victoria town of Gozo, an island in Malta. Cobblestoned street with limestoned buildings on either side of the narrow street. Potted trees are set outside the doors — there are two scooters parked on both sides of the road.

“This is delicious,” Moon said after gulping a mouthful of dal, sabzi and tandoori roti. “I didn’t quite expect to find such good Indian food on this small island”.

After spending a week on the island of Gozo, a part of the Maltese archipelago, our palates were badly itching for some Indian food. After some searching, we found a restaurant in a town called Marsalforn that stood on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea.

An Indian restautant named Kohinoor. It serves both Indian and Mediterranean food. This is a view from the outside. There are chairs and tables in the open space. The restaurant has a red colour theme.

Moon, munching joyfully, continued, “It’s amazing how we are everywhere. Once, someone found a hotel in a part of the Swiss Alps where no other humans resided. It was run by a family from Punjab. The owner of this restaurant is also a Punjabi guy”.

Dipping a piece of my naan into the butter paneer, I said, “We seldom find anyone from Assam in such places, though. It’s always someone from the popular places like Punjab, Mumbai, Hyderabad or Delhi, but seldom from the eastern region,” I said.
