A Place Is Sad if Entertainers and Party-Goers Define a “Cool” Life
The amalgam of false promises, mass hysteria, and creativity collapse
Aren’t we all, feeling kind of empty?
Entertainment is a killer. It is killing boredom and loneliness all over the world. The enormous joy it could bring is the most sought-after human experience. It defines human desire.
We see handsome guys and girls living their “best”, “coolest”, and “lustiest” lives everywhere, as portrayed from the old billboards and movies to the newest Instagram and TikTok hits. That’s what people, youngsters in particular, inevitably look up to nowadays. Extrapolating from there, it is no exaggeration to say that many people stay alive for the next party, the next concert, or the next viral Netflix series. Carnivals and alcohols are essential even in marches for justice and serious social causes. Everything must now have entertainment value; else it is unworthy of our time.
With that said, you know I am going to put “entertainment” in its place. To skip the detour, the truth is that “entertainment”, the ones you’d love to pay your dear time and money for, is only valuable to a very limited extent. Beyond that limit is all downhill.
