What If Your Supplications Are Also Your Compass In Life?

Have you ever found yourself making wild supplications that are extremely uncharacteristic of you, and require a lot- mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually?
For instance, when you pray for becoming the cause for a community’s growth?
Or the reason for the revival of the Muslim ummah?
An instrument for revolutionary change that will protect and strengthen the ummah?
Because your heart is crushing under the mountainous weight of the ongoing genocide in Palestine…
The deplorable situation in Kashmir,
Rohingya, Burma, and the pitiable and preposterously embarrassing state of muslims everywhere…
Deep down, you wonder why you’re begging to be this individual when clearly, you don’t have the personality for such a painful and punishable (the plight of those who live courageously for ALLAH) undertaking.
And yet, you continue to beg and plead…
It’s as if someone has placed this fervent pleading on your lips.
Then one day, your prayer collides with the Response (yes capital R).
That opportunity presents itself.
It’s a small one, but you know deep down that this is the beginning.
Like the planting of the seed.
You can’t ignore it.
So you follow through with it…
The stress builds up, the anxiety emboldens, and panic inhabits your heart.
That’s when you start questioning your ‘imposed’ supplication.
That’s also when you enter a brief identity crisis (and also consider the thought whether you’re manic bipolar)
You get a glimpse of what this journey will be like…
And then you’re presented with a choice.
Turn your back on it and walk away
Or
Totally immerse yourself into this new identity that will be a means for your own transformation (and require you to permanently dwell in discomfort).
The latter choice is very scary.
Fact.
But it also means self-discovery.
It means direction.
It means possibilities, opportunities, and purpose within purpose.
Our main purpose in life is to worship ALLAH (SWT). Nothing else.
And while that is our unanimous purpose, each one of us have our individual ways to reach ALLAH (SWT). It could be our talents, trials, skills, etc.
But do we always know our abilities?
No.
Sometimes, we mostly discover them through experiences and trials.
But maybe, we also discover them through our strange and seemingly bizarre supplications. These supplications serve as our signals into self-discovery and awareness. They become our compass into the world of possibilities where we are brave but not boorish, courageous beyond comprehension, and truly attuned to our other life of eternity. These supplications are a preview of what we are meant to become, and thereby, they offer heightened hope and an idealistic optimism.
No wonder, “Supplication is the essence of worship.”
Through it, you attain unfathomable levels that exemplify and enhance your worship.
So, what’s stopping you from making strange and unusual supplications?
If you’re being pulled towards a certain supplication constantly, then it might just be your compass taking you to your ultimate destination, back to your Lord in the most impressive manner.
Let it find voice through your lips.
It could be the very supplication that creates the greatest ripple effect that will not just revive your soul, but through you, the entire ummah.
So, go on now and make GOD-sized prayers!
