📍 Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India | Outside Loveena Ice Cream Parlor | 1620 hrs. | 2nd week, May 2025

A green garden chair. Cold air. A hungry belly (paired with my husband’s one) that had walked too far with only breakfast.

It was a chilly evening on the Mall Road in Shimla. The breathtaking colonial facades stood quietly, the conifers whispered above, and our sneakers clicked on the cobbled path as we looked for something warm, filling, healthy, and local to eat.

Try Siddu at Loveena,” someone had said — a stranger as well as the guy at our hotel’s concierge.

Loveena? An ice cream parlour? We were skeptical. But curiosity — and hunger — led us in.

We thought that Loveena was meant to serve sundaes and soda, not slow-cooked Himachali delicacies. But here we were, in front of an ice cream parlor, waiting for Siddu.
