This is a poem I wrote in remembrance of my Nan, who passed away on 23rd April 2025, just before Easter.

My Nan loved the springtime and nothing more than spending time in her garden.

In her younger years she would always take me swimming in the cold sea and I remember her greeting me after school with hands covered in watercolour paint, whilst making me copious amounts of tea as we talked away the afternoon. I will miss her so much, but I know her love and life will continue to live on through us all.

I’ll remember you every springtime,
Just as the sun starts to grow warm;
I’ll think of you in the bright yellow peaks of daffodils
breaking a long winter’s storm.

Flowing, flickering springtime light,
Freshly mowed lawns,
Endless life from dusk till dawn.

I’ll remember you when I dive into the sharp, cold sea
on an early summer’s day, shivering to get warm again;
I’ll remember you each spring,
As life around us is born anew from the rain.
