No Tombs at Sea

There are no tombstones
For souls lost at sea
No markers
Nor remembrance
For those
Beloved children
Whose lives and bodies
No less holy than your own
Fall
Into the abyss
And are washed over
By the void

Entire worlds
Hopes and dreams
Passion and potential
Muscle and blood
Souls imbued
With the same divine
Spark of light
That burns in you
Have been lost
Countless times
And shall be lost
Countless more

Washed over
Torn asunder
Dragged to the depths
Of the cold indifferent dark
The everlasting deep
Of forgetfulness
Where nothing breathes
And the sun
Does not see
The silent doomed hell
Where Salvation’s hand
Cannot reach
