I Write Letters To Strangers And Post Them In The Streets
Recently, I started an experiment.
--
The world we live in is getting faster. The moments where we stop for a minute, to breathe and reflect, are becoming rare for most of us.
There are more people in this world than ever before. Living together on a spot tinier than ever before.
And yet, never have we been feeling so anonymous, lonely, and depressed.
Creating an oasis
So I started writing letters to strangers.
Every week, I stray through the streets. I search for places to put my letters and post them on benches, lamp posts, walls, or trash bins.
As I’m writing and posting them, I have no clue if anyone will ever read my words.
But I know if someone lets their gaze wander over one of my letters…
If the bold „DEAR STRANGER“ on top of a handwritten page posted to a lamp post catches their eyes, they move closer and pause for a minute whatever they were doing…
If they read my words, take a deep breath and forget the chaotic world around them…
…I can make a change. Maybe just a small one.
I can make people’s days. I can make them feel something. I can give them a spark of inspiration and hope.
I leave my Instagram tag on every letter.
This way, after just a short time of doing this, people who discovered my letters and felt inspired have already given me a tremendous amount of positive feedback.
This keeps me going!
