The Year of the Metal Rat (2020) was, according to the Chinese Zodiac, a year of new beginnings. It was followed by the Year of the Metal Ox, which promised to bring career advancement, prosperity and wellness. Did any of this hold true for you?

Recently, I read an article by Tour Guide Jelena who has found her dream job of becoming a guide in her city of Spelt, Croatia.

Reading her article reminded me once again about how lucky I am to be in the business I have been doing for almost three decades. A tour guide, educational travel consultant and travel organizer. I have always loved my job, and just about everything it entails. However, it is not a job that can be done remotely.

In March 2020 all of my tours for that month were canceled from one day to the next, then canceled for the next few months, and finally for the entire year. My profession completely disappeared from March 2020 until August 2021. That month I did my first…
