No More Generic Responses to Applicants

Most companies lie and make fun of potential employees

On April 28, I sent my application for an office manager position at France’s leading environmental media outlet. To be honest, my profile doesn’t quite match what the company is looking for, but there are still some points that could be a good fit. What’s more, I think the media outlet in question is doing remarkable and necessary work, so I wanted to give it a shot. After all, why not me? That’s what I said to myself.

So, between April 27 and 28, I took a few hours to polish my resume and write my cover letter, without the help of artificial intelligence. I prefer to point this out because today, I’m willing to bet that a good number of candidates turn to AI to write their applications for them and/or make them sound more appealing. How can we really blame them? It’s a fair game, since most companies probably now have to have their job descriptions written by ChatGPT. Get me out of here, please.

On May 21 at 6:43 p.m., I received this automatic email (I presume) sent from an email address dedicated to recruitment for this company:
