WRITING PROMPT 64: Reflect upon a person or situation that deepened your gratitude. How did it change your perspective?
When life changed tracks, a few kind hearts helped me stay the course.
This prompt on gratitude instantly took me back to one of the most challenging phases of my academic life, right after I passed my school finals. I had set my heart on pursuing engineering. But life had other plans.
My father was transferred from Gujarat to Maharashtra, and we relocated to Pune. The same year, the Indian school education system underwent a major shift — from the 11-year format to the 10+2 structure. While Gujarat was still following the old system, Maharashtra had already implemented the new one.
This created a roadblock in my admission to any course in Pune. I was in academic limbo — qualified, but not eligible. It was frustrating and disheartening, especially when I was so close to beginning my dream journey in engineering.
