Winters in Lahore
The feeling is real
In Europe, the winter is generally very murky and cold. The days are unexceptionally short and nights feel overstretched. After 7 or 8 PM, you rarely see a crowd. Everyone preferred to wind up their business and stay home to enjoy a hot dinner and relax in their cozy rooms.
So, generally, winters are quiet—so quiet that you can hear the tap dripping in the washroom. There is also a general rumor that low sunlight leads to depression. Many people take vitamins, especially vitamin D, to stay out of depression.
Winter in Lahore, Pakistan is somewhat the same — short days and long nights. But the energy is different here. Unlike in Europe, here coldness and darkness are mingled with savour and joy.
As days become shorter and nights become deeper and darker people become more socialized. Also because winter is a festive season. Wedding ceremonies can be seen in every other street.
As the night grows darker the hustle-bustle grows in streets and markets. The aroma of food, the noise of crowds, and the colors of light create a vibrant and lively atmosphere. You feel the warmth of people around you, which makes the cold…
