The Boomers rule the music world
The age of classic rock was like nothing in the past 100 years
I had a classic rock station on this am while I was driving. It was one of those “just perfect” mornings, and the sounds kept flowing with some of my favorite tunes one after another as if they had asked me to create the playlist.
It struck me just how many great groups there were during that period, and what a remarkable time it was for music in general.
Classic rock stations came into fashion in the late 70’s as Album Rock music, or “underground” as it was called, started to be less and less mainstream.
“Deep Cuts” were not so deep to fans that listened to albums as they were released from the 60s to perhaps 1979 or thereabouts.
Classic Rock is as much a format as it is a period, but what a remarkable time frame, that still makes Baby Boomers relive their teens and early twenties.
Think about it if you will. It began with the British Invasion, which highlighted itself with groups we all now know and love, such as the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Of course, there were hundreds of other bands.
My age group grew up as teens listening to The Beach Boys (I was in South Florida, so that just made sense), but at the same time, we were dancing at sock hop parties in the high…
