Is Science Stronger Because its Uncertain?

As a science enthusiast, I’ve always been fascinated by how science helps one understand the world. It gave me the courage to question religion and the very idea of God itself. For the past ten years, I held a belief strongly: that through science, I was getting closer to the truth.

But recently, a philosophical point made me pause and reflect.

“Science is never absolutely certain and it can change. Scientific truth is not absolute”

This statement is often used by religious thinkers, not incorrectly to point out that scientific claims are always open to revision. In science, nothing is ever claimed with absolute certainty. Scientists deliberately leave room for doubt, knowing that new evidence or better reasoning may one day replace the current understanding.

So, does this openness make science weaker? And does the unshakable certainty of religious belief make it stronger?

Religious believers often hold their views with absolute conviction, whether or not there’s evidence, finding comfort in that certainty. In fact, this emotional reassurance is a major reason why belief in God persists across cultures, even among scientists.
