Happy New Year, everyone! As promised, I am kicking off 2025 with a round of surprises.

Today, we’re excited to welcome a new publication to the Alchemy collective.

Portugal Calling

I was born and raised here in this stone raft anchored at the Atlantic shore, as Saramago once called Portugal.

Even during my years as an expat, my motherland was where my heart had always been.

While away, I would long for the only place I call home, while the words from Fernando Pessoa were like ink-stained echoes of saudade:

Oh, salty sea, how much of your salt is Portuguese tears

I’m a language teacher with an MA in Portuguese and Brazilian culture. I love my motherland and its language. Our ancestral culture followed me wherever I went, and in recent years I’ve been working to preserve it.

I have to say the idea of launching a new publication about a subject so dear to my heart…
