Psychology explains Trump’s and Musk’s modi operandi
Update 3/15/2025: Trump just signed an executive order on Friday that eliminates seven federal agencies, including ones that focus on media, libraries, museums and ending homelessness.
Over these past few weeks, much of the country watched in horror as Trump and Musk fired over 30,000 federal workers and 80,000 employees from Veterans’ Affairs. The president (Trump) and the de facto president (Musk) are presently gutting Social Security offices while planning to slash allotments to Medicare and Medicaid. And the latest news shows that they are cutting a billion dollars’ worth of cuts to food banks, schools, and SNAP.
This is already on top of multiple tariffs that will exacerbate inflation, perhaps triggering a recession.
Was I surprised at Trump or Musk?
Not really.
You see, research on the behavior of the rich has shown that they are the least empathic, empathetic, and ethical of all the social classes.
