If you’ve ever caught yourself saying, “Just one more episode,” and suddenly it’s 1 a.m., yeah, same.

You’re not the only one. In 2024, according to stats, the average UK & USA adult spends over six hours daily watching TV and online video.

More than one-third of our waking life is spent passively watching others live their lives.

Like I said, it wasn’t about giving up Netflix forever. I didn’t like how I felt afterwards. You know that weird brain fog, where your body’s tired but your mind won’t shut up?

That. So I started experimenting with tiny changes to see what made my evenings feel better.

Here are the ones that helped.

I picked a Few Alternatives That Didn’t Feel Like a Chore:

I knew I wouldn’t replace TV with knitting or reading Shakespeare every night.

So I started small. I swapped one episode for a phone call to a friend. I read a book only because it looked fun, rather than “because of productivity.”
