5 Ways to Expand a Gratitude Practice
Start living a happier, healthier, more connected life
Gratitude has a plethora of positive impacts on us. From increased happiness and decreased depression to lowering stress hormones and perhaps even increasing longevity. It allows us to build more meaningful relationships. And can make us more resilient during life challenges. We hear its praises sung by mindset gurus, life coaches, religious leaders, and even from our neighbor down the street.
OK, I get it. Gratitude is important. But what is meant by having a gratitude “practice.” Is just saying, “I’m grateful for [fill in the blank]” enough? Or should I be journaling every day? Or do I have to post on social media about it? Can I just put it in a prayer and be done? Do I do it once a day, twice a day, once a week, or just when I think about it?
While everyone is different and will figure out what works for them, I believe gratitude is most beneficial when it’s a practice — something we do regularly at consistent intervals.
