This statement blew my mind!
The number of clinically obese people one billion globally for the first time.
To think that we are living in a time where humans are killing themselves slowly through over-consumption is mind-boggling!
On the surface, this seems contradictory.
Someone who is obese is taking in a surplus of calories; wouldn’t that mean that they would be getting ample nutrients?
Surprisingly, no.
The problem lies in the types of food the average obese person consumes—ultra-processed food needed to run the body. These foods fill up your stomach but don’t properly fuel you.
Another way obesity can cause malnutrition is through poor absorption of nutrients.
