Certain debts can never be repaid
I have a strange liking for a physical book. I love to flip the pages, smell, and bookmark.
In today’s age, this may sound odd, but I cannot deny my affinity for the fat brown book that I can physically touch.
As much as I would love to have all of them on my bookshelf in the corner of my living room, I do not have a shelf big enough to accommodate them, nor do I have the money to buy them all.
The library card comes to my rescue. Every Saturday at noon, I travel to my favorite library corner and treat myself to an exquisite collection of books. Sometimes, I bring them home, but there is something in the quietness of the library that I adore.
That sublime quietness.
I can finally read without worrying about what to cook, the pile of laundry that must be done today, or attending to the person ringing the doorbell.
I was deeply engrossed in one of the books when someone patted me on my shoulder, “Hey, do you know a good fairy tale book for children? My little daughter had listened to all I knew about, and now she wants some more. Finding a new bedtime story every day is tough.” She sighed.
I offered her the seat on the opposite end of the table, and we chatted for a while…
