Lessons from My Mother
And why I follow them today

When I left home for college, it was one of the hardest things my mother had to endure. One of the strongest people I know, she broke down openly while hugging me goodbye.
It wasn’t until I started working and living by myself that I realized how much I missed my mother and her support. This was also when I saw the wisdom in her lessons while growing up.
Although I cannot fit everything my mother taught me in a single article, there are a few key values that I strive to follow the most as an adult.

Treasure your Time with Loved Ones
My mother is one of the strongest people I know. Having lost her father when she was young, she realizes the importance of treasuring time with loved ones, because you don’t know what the next day holds.
Growing up, whether it was family breakfasts/dinners, or weekend activities, my mother made sure all three of us spent quality time together, regardless of how busy we were.
During school holidays, she prioritized spending time with cousins and extended family who lived abroad, even if it meant enduring…
