Her expression didn’t change when I told her, but I knew she was agog and wanted more. Yeah, in fact, she appeared quite droll. It made me chuckle.
I was trying to explain quantum physics and relativity to her as if she were a five-year-old. You know … because she was a girl … and a blonde one at that.
She was fascinated as she sat silently listening to me go on and on. I’m sure she was spellbound by my articulate way of boiling things down to her level.
She would nod politely every once in a while. I’m sure she was still unable to grasp the magnitude of what I was saying, but the point was not to stimulate her mind but stimulate her body … if you know what I’m saying.
Anyway, I talked for about 30 minutes or so, her sitting in rapt attention, hanging on every word I was saying. I was doing pretty good too, I must say.
That was until one of the professors I knew walked by and said, “Are you ready for your guest lecture, Dr. Cavanaugh? I think the auditorium is full, from what I’ve heard.”
