Call for Contributions: The Palgrave Handbook of Nature-Based Solutions
The Palgrave Handbook of Nature-Based Solutions invites researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and sustainability experts to contribute chapters exploring the policies, governance models, and technologies that drive the development and implementation of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) worldwide.
Edited by Robert C. Brears, this comprehensive Handbook will provide expert knowledge on how NBS can address societal challenges such as climate change, urbanization, biodiversity loss, and disaster risk reduction. Chapters will highlight innovative policies, technologies, and financing mechanisms that scale up NBS to maximize environmental, economic, and social benefits.
Scope and Objectives
The Handbook will comprehensively explore:
- Sustainable Urbanization: Green roofs, urban forests, water-efficient urban farming, and ecological corridors.
- Ecosystem Restoration: Soil conservation, forest landscape restoration, freshwater ecosystem recovery, and coastal resilience.
- Ecosystem-Based Mitigation (EbM): Carbon sequestration in soils, conservation tillage, reforestation, and blue carbon strategies.
- Ecosystem-Based Adaptation (EbA): Agroforestry, climate-smart agriculture, sustainable forest and coastal management.
- Ecosystem-Based Disaster Risk Reduction (EDRR): Floodplain restoration, natural drainage paths, tsunami protection, and drought resilience.
- Financing NBS: Green bonds, blended finance, debt-for-nature swaps, and payments for ecosystem services (PES).
