Welcome to Lipstick and Powder. A magazine to support and empower girls.

Who am I?

As well as experiencing my own tumultuous growing up years — and going on to gain a Psychology Degree — I have raised two daughters now in their 20s. It was while nurturing them that I became inspired to train and then work as a SEN teacher assistant in schools. All of which gave me valuable insights into the unique challenges faced by teen girls and their guardians.

Lipstick and Powder began a year ago as a place for me to share stories from my youth and the problems I had to deal with. It quickly became apparent that these issues, driven by biological changes, societal pressures, and cultural expectations, remain just as relevant for teen girls today.

I am now opening the publication to submissions from writers who like me, wish for a more equitable world for all young women. By sharing our stories, we can create a relatable, supportive environment and empower girls.
