I Was Trapped in a Room for Hours (With the Slowest-Imaginable Internet!)
Here’s why I actually enjoyed it immensely
What do you do when you find yourself trapped in a room for hours on end? I discovered the answer for myself today. Unexpectedly, I ended up in a four by four (meter) bedroom — alone — with many hours to spend and without being able to leave (note: I did have the chance to look after my basic necessities ;)).
Today was such a strange, but wholesome, day. Because of circumstances, I spent the day alone in a room, with only a bed, a small empty desk, and two chairs. There was one window with a window seat looking out over a small patch of grass with an old olive tree, and one door on the opposite end — that I couldn’t open.
As for devices, I had my phone and laptop, but extremely slow internet. The phone couldn’t connect at all and the laptop was so slow that I needed to wait five minutes per page load. Why am I sharing these details? To emphasize how cut off from the outside world I was: I couldn’t escape into the infinite online realm in search of entertainment or interaction with others.
Can you imagine anything stranger? No endless feed scrolling. No mindless content consumption. No activities nor chores to…
