A Letter to the Past Me Who Never Gave Up on Our Dream

Dear Younger Me,

You were the one who truly cared—the one who stayed up through sleepless nights just to build the life I’m still pursuing today. You were the best friend I ever had. Your strength, your persistence, your heart—everything about you made me proud to be you.

I still don’t understand how anyone could hurt someone like you—someone who gave so much, who cared so deeply. I will never forget the sacrifices you made for me. I can’t bring myself to fully enjoy life sometimes, because I feel like I’d be letting you down. You gave everything—your time, your energy, your joy—just so I could become the person I am now. How could I ever waste that?

You were the one who believed in my success. You saw something in our future and you worked endlessly for it. I know I’ve made mistakes, and at times I’ve felt like I failed you—but no more. From now on, I will carry your dreams forward. I will honor the life you envisioned. I’m here because of you.

I know if you saw me now, you would be disappointed. You had so much hope, so much belief in who I would become. And maybe I didn’t live up to all of it—not yet. But I promise you, I haven’t forgotten. I haven’t let go.

I will never forget the people who mocked you—how they laughed, doubted, and looked down on you—yet you still stood tall and defended the dream. And now, I’m the one living through the hard-earned rewards you fought for. There will never be someone like you again, and I wish I had a time machine just to go back, give you a hug, and offer the support you never received.

You tolerated so many painful things just to make our dream possible. Even at the age I am now, you believed I’d achieve so much. And yes—life happened. Things we didn’t plan for. Things that hurt. But I will not give up on you now. You faced so many challenges with courage, and even though a bigger one down the road brought everything to a halt and made us lose years in regret, I promise: I will not let the dream you fought for go to dust. I will not let our dream die.

Thank you—for the fight, for the love, for your belief in us. And please forgive me.

With all my heart,
Your Future Self
