While philosophical concepts are often dauntingly complex, their reputation as boring or dry is far from the truth. Believe me. I studied philosophy for five years, and in that time, my mind was blown on most occasions. Now it’s you’re turn to have a little taste.

1- Plato’s Cave Analogy

The famous Plato came up with the most amazing way of arguing that most people are just, well… stupid. He does this by using a very sophisticated analogy that goes like this:

There are people living in a cave. They’re tied to their place and have their backs to its entrance. Every day, when something passes behind them, they see shadows they believe to be real. But one day, one of these individuals manages to untie himself and escapes the cave. He’s almost blinded by the sun, but with time, he gets used to this new world. He realizes that the shadows in the cave were nothing but illusions. This is very exciting and so he returns to the cave to share this revelation with the others. But alas, they’re much too set in their own ways and can’t accept his words.

And then, they kill him.
