The Unseen Fascism In The US According To Scholars
I have experienced it while I lived there.
Fear and concern are rampant as talk of fascism rising in the US permeates conversations. However, according to scholars, America has been under fascist rule for at least the past 20 years, if not longer.
I can only speak from my own experience living there since the early 2000s, but others may have different perspectives. Nevertheless, I draw parallels between my time in the US, the current state of affairs, and how scholars see fascism.
I am going by examples of two very famous and and how they described their definition of fascism.
Luis Britto García in his essay Fascismo describes it as:
“Fascism is the absolute complicity between and the State”: when the goals of capitalism are intertwined with political power, it becomes a concerning situation.
I have witnessed this happening since I moved to the US in 2001. Through lobbying, capitalists and monopolists have gained control over politicians, as evidenced by events like the 2008 financial crisis where government bailouts were given to “too big too fail” companies.
