For the Love of Libraries
Re-discover one of the few free places you can exit in public.
I popped into my library and walked out with four books, two audiobooks on my phone and three dress recommendations from the librarian. All for free.
I took up space for two hours, reading and writing.
I browsed books, picked up a few to take home and re-discovered my love of maps and atlas (so many places to go!).
I chatted to the librarian about her colourful dress and left with three new local designers' names in my phone's notes.
I body doubled with the other patrons, quietly working alongside them while we all enjoyed our own space.
I browsed the coding and electronics kits they had available to borrow.
I looked at the fliers for local groups for elderly patrons and community groups to stay connected.
I enjoyed the sounds of little kids reading books (ok, this novelty wore off relatively quickly).
I wondered who still had a DVD player but enjoyed the idea that you could find DVDs to borrow if you did.
I left with a book of badass Australian women called “Badass Women, Sheila’s of Australian History” by Eliza Reilly. A learn-to-crochet book so I could finally help…
