The scientific field represents a powerful force of human evolution and a symbol of mankind’s enduring curiosity and desire to understand the Universe that we inhabit. From the discovery of fire to unraveling the genetic code, science reflects humanity’s ability to observe patterns, ask questions, and transform raw wonder into knowledge. Despite its transformative nature, science is often shrouded in complex language and technical jargon, making insights inaccessible to those outside of the academic world. It is fundamental that we ensure knowledge is available to those who seek it.

The Scientific Language Barrier

It’s a common experience shared by many who are grasped by the clever title of a research article. Upon clicking, we find that the complex language requires us to read sentences several times over, until finally we can absorb some meaning from them.

Linguistic Limitations in Academia

It is fair that scientific articles are written in such a way that is tailored to experts in the field; however, there are cases where it feels as though the language is advanced to the point that it is paradoxically less effective.

“ The limits of my language mean the limits of my world.” – Ludwig Wittgenstein
