How Ovarian Cancer Diagnostics and Therapeutics are Progressing
Stories from the Aston University Annual Distinguished Lecture 2025
Recently, Aston University (where I’m doing my PhD), had its annual distinguished lecture.
What is this?
Every year, Aston invites a renowned researcher to deliver a presentation on their career, their research, and the advice they can give to others. A range of guests have presented across the four years I’ve been here, including a Nobel prize winner.
This year, Professor Magdalena Plebanski presented.
Who is Professor Plebanski?
Plebanski is based at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) in Melbourne, Australia, and is an internationally renowned leader in immunology and bioengineering research, Head of the Translational Immunology and Nanotechnology, and Head of the Cancer, Ageing, and Vaccines Laboratory at the School of Health and Biomedical Sciences. She is also director of RMIT’s Biomedical and Health Innovation Enabling Impact Platform.
Plebanski’s achievements are too long to list, so I’ll pull out some statistics.
- Plebanski has founded and is running two Biotech companies in various roles as Director, CSO, and CEO.
