May 2025 update: I’m reopening GBC to new writers in a limited capacity. Drop a comment on this post to request being added. If your comment gets a clap from me, but you haven’t been added, it means I’ve passed on your request. I review every profile before adding a new writer, which makes this a slow process for me. Please don’t leave multiple comments/requests to be added. And also, please read the guidelines below before submitting. I am only accepting drafts at this time.

February 2025 update: Grief Book Club is closed indefinitely to new writers. I will add you if you have requested to be a writer prior to 2/15/25 (at my discretion). Since I’m a boost nominator, I will continue to accept new draft submissions from existing writers for now.

Random update — 1/5/25: Happy New Year. I’m officially adding writers to Grief Book Club again, but I will be checking your profile first and if your writing style and approach isn’t a fit, I won’t add you. If you’ve left a comment and haven’t been added in a few weeks, consider it a pass. Also, while I do hope you read these entire guidelines, these are my priorities:

  • I accept essays, memoir, and poetry about anything related to grief, loss, sadness, and also how you work through these things. So, mental health…
