So much of my life
is spent watching time go by.
Living is waiting.

Closing the deadline for the open session of GiaB’s prompted writing challenges, series 1, will need to be delayed by two weeks, just as we needed to for series 2.

We only have these open sessions once a year, and it is important to GiaB that everyone who would like to participate in the challenge gets to do so.

And so we wait. We reflect on the weeks gone by. Life has occurred and writing has occurred. Will the life we experienced colour what we read? Or will what we read contextualise the life we live?

I find different events in my life make me look at the same piece of writing in a multitude of ways. When I struggle, I can read the suddenly apparent conflict in the author’s words that curiously wasn’t nearly so apparent upon my first read. When I see a particular bird, or particular plant, I am reminded of how authors had written odes and painted lyrical pictures of similar flora and fauna in the poems that have crossed my desk.
