Mothering through end times

For years now, I’ve felt torn between daily life with California kids and a deepening sense that our hedonistic world is dying. As a mother, part of me would like to pretend life is “normal.” However, hearing my kids talk about prom, sports, and summer jobs while taking in the news from Gaza feels surreal and sickening. Countless children their age and younger have died. Countless more have lost limbs, homes, schools, family, and friends. Now they face unending hunger in a U.S.-funded Hell on Earth.

Meanwhile, on our local beaches — further proof that thoughtless “leaders” are destroying our planet. As ecocide and climate catastrophe continue to escalate, the military-industrial complex steers recklessly toward nuclear war. Although the government and mainstream media keep distracting people into believing the “American way of life” is alive and well, none of this is…
