An Evolutionary Gift That Is Often Lethal

Mother Nature’s calculated risk

A dance with the devil is the process of evolution. Where every rose bears its thorn and every blessing is a curse.

Not to undermine the natural selection that has bestowed on us what we are today, but the magic tricks of Mother Nature are a double-edged sword.

Why do I say that?

Take the upright posture, for example.

The first visual that comes to mind when we think of being ‘human’ is the silhouette of the evolving apes, gradually standing on two legs, imparting a sense of distinction and lending a snobbish assumption that we are class apart.

We humans.

Standing proudly on our two feet.

Yet unaware that it makes our rear end bleed, lets our gut herniate, renders our leg veins useless and most importantly, kills our women.

I’m talking about hemorrhoids, hernia, varicose veins and difficult childbirth due to a narrow pelvis (a by-product of bipedalism) respectively.

Nonetheless, refuting the claim that walking on two legs helped us emerge as the most dominant life forms, would be stupidity.
