Open Secrets About How You Dress
We’ve all heard it: “how you dress determines how you’re addressed.” Parents haul this line all over the place when trying to convince their kids to dress modestly. Even shabbily dressed employees are not spared their share of this line when they walk into an expressive supervisor’s office.
Left for me, I would phrase it, “how you appear determines how you’re looked at.” I’d be disappointed to think you had expected some very powerful philosophical quote with frightening grammar as a replacement. But hey, I love it simple — like mama’s dress.
A person’s appearance encompasses everything way beyond their dress to their carriage, the look on their face, their posture, body language, etc.
In my world, it extends to whether you appear on time or tardiness is the hallmark of your existence.
Whether your appearance announces confidence even before you speak.
Whether you make any effort to appear as “YOU” or you don’t mind passing for “another random dude on the block.”
All these pointers shape people’s perspective and perception of you. It also impacts how they handle you.
