Life Lessons 101 / Advice
Operations is the Key to Success
Ideas are worth (almost) nothing. Execution is the key
A wise man once said-
Ideas are worth (almost) nothing. Execution is the key
Given the age that we live in, of social media, information and content based on the internet, it’s little to no surprise that there are many people with dreams and aspirations and many ideas around them.
Not that there weren’t people with aspirations and dreams earlier, just that the world is much more interconnected now than it used to be decades ago and people across the world now have access to and are acquainted with the happenings around in almost real-time.
Whenever we notice someone or some business break the glass ceiling, fill a gap in an industry, change the course of an industry or make an even broader impact, we end up admiring the success of these, and at times even envying how these successful people and enterprises around us or in the world are doing something which we could have also done.
Something that seems blindly obvious in hindsight and then thinking as if we could have done the same or could do a ‘me too’ of the same.
Life Lesson: Ideating is the easy part. Executing is the key.
There are a lot of lectures and lessons around operational excellence and execution framework being taught in business schools as well as on the internet.
For instance, Business-school reference material defines the operational excellence framework below:
The operational excellence framework is a set of guidelines designed to help organisations, and people, achieve operational excellence. The framework’s four pillars are strategy development, performance management, leadership and culture, and process excellence
But they miss the point of emphasising how, without a laser-sharp focus on execution, things might just be theoretical (good on paper) and less realistic than one would want it to be!

P.S. I have recently started writing on Medium about- all things finance, and life, and to assist people in their path to financial independence. If I can guide some (or any) of the members in this endeavour, then I shall consider this “Medium” exercise as successful!
