Stop Shrinking, Start Leading: Why Empresence Is the Future for Women

If you had to describe the qualities you’d want in a woman leader, what would they be? Smart? Empathetic? Authentic? Ethical?

As a woman who has spent over 24 years working in male-dominated industries, I’ve thought a lot about women in leadership.

Frankly, we believe that the world would benefit greatly by having more women in leadership roles. There is something stronger happening through women who lead and it’s Passion and Resolve.

We wholeheartedly believe our world would be a better place with more women in positions of power, influence, and leadership.

And I’m not talking about women who mold themselves to resemble their male counterparts just to gain access to those roles.

Here’s why:

The Power of Women in Leadership

Women in Politics

• Prioritize What Matters: Women leaders focus on health, education, and family policies. A UN study found that women in parliaments drive improvements in these key areas, directly benefiting constituents.
• Bridge the Divide: Research from Harvard Business Review shows women politicians are more likely to collaborate across party lines, fostering bipartisanship in even the most divided times.
• Crisis Managers: During the COVID-19 pandemic, countries led by women (e.g., New Zealand, Germany) had lower death rates and better communication strategies, according to Forbes.

Women in Business

• Better Financial Performance: Companies with higher representation of women in leadership deliver 34% higher total returns to shareholders, according to Catalyst.
• Innovation Champions: Diverse leadership teams, led by women, are more likely to drive innovation, as noted by McKinsey & Company.
• Engagement Experts: Gallup research found teams managed by women experience 6% higher engagement, boosting productivity and retention.

When women lead, whether in politics or business, their impact reverberates far beyond their immediate roles, uplifting entire organizations, communities, and nations.

The Missing Piece: Empresence

Despite the data, women remain significantly outnumbered in leadership positions. Bias, misogyny, and discrimination undoubtedly play a role, but I believe there’s something deeper at play, a missing element.

We call it Empresence.

Empresence is empowered presence. It’s the feeling of being so whole and complete in yourself that you radiate self-love. Empresence comes from doing the work in mind, body, and spirit, allowing you to show up as your most powerful, authentic, and empathetic self.

It’s about leaving behind people-pleasing and the need for external validation.

It’s confidence rooted in a connection to something bigger than yourself.

And it’s about embracing the uniquely feminine qualities like empathy, cooperation, balance, and hope, that make us exceptional leaders.

These aren’t “soft skills.” They’re the skills that unite us as humans and drive real, meaningful change.

But not from a place of exhaustion. We’re about putting ourselves first so we can serve from a place of strength.
