When the World is Hard, but the Heart is Soft.

--

Caring isn’t easy, but it leads to a beautiful, kind world that is easier on all of us.

In a world where aggression is normalized, a soft, naive, joyfully troublemaking or curious heart is easily wounded, saddened, even depressed. Our job, then, is to reconnect with Nature, with breath, with our heart — to breathe deep and remember that so many others care, even if it isn’t easy or popular to do so.

Aggression creates further aggression. Kindness, with strength behind it, creates enlightened society.

Everyday, little, ordinary moments are the best…

(I had a no-big-deal but surprising, hard, discouraging moment or three today. Leaving a kind community for a new, perhaps rougher one…I don’t know if I’m up to this. And then I remember that even in my community in Boulder, more and more, doesn’t care, either. That soft, awakening hearts are here in Indy, like Ginger, a mom who has helped us out here, of the blue. That perhaps this country is put upon by selfish and greedy and lying, power-hungry people — but that, too, good people serve our societies and stand for goodness, democracy, and a real, compassionate Love that can’t be diminished by false religion or hate or misinformation.)

…And at the end of the day, just going for a walk and seeing people…
