Two Core Tips Essential for Winning Large Research Grants

Upon passing my PhD viva in February 2025, I spent the following two months working with a few academics at the Department of Informatics of King’s College London (including my prospective mentor and the Head of the Department) to develop an fellowship application.

Given the recent years of hype surrounding AI, a range of academic institutions and non-profit organisations in the UK and North America have actively been welcoming early career researchers to undertake AI-focused research.

Among them, the in the UK and/or its North American alternative — — are newly launched AI research programmes that focus on exploring how AI impacts metascience and the research ecosystem.

As an applicant for the UKRI scheme as a prospective Principal Investigator, I have been assigned 10 grant applications from other fellow applicants for peer review.
