After Sundown
A poem but a Canva too
The leaves were dancing over my head,
as I was staring at them,
my eyes were still alive,
yet everything around was dead.
The whistles of the wind whizzed,
moving that bell in my earring.
The sky shifts into dark blue,
interspersed by orange brushstrokes,
yet leaving some spots for yellow.
The sky was the only thing lifelike,
compared to the debris on the ground.
With a hopeless human clinging to no existing strands,
that were hanging from the stars,
yet not reaching his eyes.
The leaves paused swaying,
as the wind headed away.
No sound remained around,
even the heart joined the debris on the ground.
The darkness sutured the sky,
leaving some holes unwoven,
where the stars may slit through,
to light the debris left on the ground.
I assume that’s why the earth and the sky,
would never be unbound.
That’s why the eyes are still alive,
every time into the depths of the sky – they dive,
yet everything around was dead,
still the stars dance over my head.
This poem is written for May Competition Prompt.
I’ve always wondered, what is the most significant thing that would push me forward to write?
Every time I try to figure out the answer of this question I fail until I have realised that many of my poems are written by the sundown time and after it, when the whole world turns silent, my words begin to speak quietly. These moments were always the source of creativity although they might seem dark and miserable but they are empowered by purpose.
So, this poem combines poetry with art that it was written in such a way which can create a canva in the mind of the reader – As I hope so – , that is probably how I wanted it to align with the word “ Creativity.“
