How Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent Kicked Elon Musk’s Ass

The days of wine and roses are over for the chainsaw-yielding Tesla billionaire

The shouting started in earshot of the Oval Office, where Donald Trump heard their screams.

They screeched past the Roosevelt Room around the corner to the National Security Advisor’s office. “Fuck you! Fuck you! Fuck you!”

and Axios reporter Marc Caputo reported that Musk accused Bessent of running two failed hedge funds.

“I can’t hear you,” he screamed at Bessent. Say it louder.”

Bessent and Musk bitterly fought over which power broker should choose the next IRS leader.

Musk had pushed through his pick for the job without securing the Treasury chief’s sign-off. Bessent was not having it. He wasn’t going to buckle under Musk’s bureaucracy-be-damned crusade.

Musk is reportedly winding down his official time in Washington, but he’s not being celebrated as a victor.

Instead, he’s been isolated and shunned because he has failed to build strong alliances in Trump’s leadership ranks. Along the way, he has angered many government departments and agency heads, whom he was supposed to be helping.
