How Democrats Have Sold Us Out

There’s a popular illusion in American politics: that the Democratic Party is the last line of defense against fascism.

But here’s the reality:

They’re not a shield.
They’re a sponge.
They soak up all the righteous rage, all the desperation for change, and they wring it out into polite committee meetings and carefully worded fundraising emails.

While the right sharpens knives, the Democrats hold hands.
While Republicans launch culture wars and stack courts, Democrats send you branded tote bags and emails that say “Let’s fight back!” but never actually do.

Let’s look back to 2009.
Obama wins in a landslide, Democrats have the House, the Senate, the presidency, a supermajority.

What do they do with it?

• Keep Guantanamo open.
• Let Wall Street walk after crashing the economy.
• Expand drone warfare.
• Increase deportations.
• Bail out the banks and let homeowners drown.
• And codify nothing! Not Roe v. Wade, not voting rights, not LGBTQ+ protections.
