An Open Letter To Patty Morin

While watching the Sunday morning political news shows last week, I learned about the story of Patty Morin.

Her daughter was brutally raped and murdered by a member of the MS-13 Gang in 2023. I came in as the clip showed Ms. Morin addressing the White House Press Corps.

The more I listened, the more I realized this was a political stunt — a sad political stunt in poor taste. Ms. Morin is clearly a MAGA Cult member, and the Trump administration used her as an average American to get their message out.

So, as an average American, I decided to address Ms. Morin in a letter that I’m unsure whether to mail to her.

Dear Patty,

I saw you last weekend on TV and learned about the horrible rape and murder of your daughter, Rachel. I believe there is an evil in this world that good people could never comprehend. What has befallen you is something a parent should NEVER have to deal with.

But then you kept talking, Patty. The more you spoke, the more I realized that you were politicizing the death of your daughter.
